Hi Everyone
Well it looks like the long and extremely warm summer is about to leave us for another year. The days are getting shorter and the nights a little cooler. Alas there is still plenty of good settled weather in the months of March/April & May, so keep those pedals turning.
The “End” of day light saving:
Yes not long to go before this disappears also, and I thought I’d take this opportunity to remind everyone to get those lights out of the box and give them the once over, then attach them to your bike for those times when you get stuck out on the road, it’s getting late and you’re miles from anywhere. For those hardy.cyclists who ride right through winter the months June/July/August will see good old Jack Frost appear. The Tuesday night ride starts at 5:30pm from Cycle Addiction and covers approx 65km, this also includes Thursday nights after the HC3 summer series has finished.
Winter Clothing ride kit:
While you’re checking your light’s you might also take the opportunity to see if your well worn and old winter riding kit will last another season or be destined for the re cycling bin. I’m getting a shiver up my spine just typing about it. If the latter applies to you then most of the bike shops/retailers/internet are pretty well stocked and they should have everything you need to get you through the winter. The HC3 cycling kit also provides a new range of clothing items including short/long sleeve jersey’s/vests etc.
Kiwi Velo 3 Day Te Awamutu Junior Tour:
The HC3 club has 10 Junior riders entered in this tour. Girl’s: Maddison Farrant, Stephanie & Tania Rauber, Pip Sutton. Boy’s: Nick Reddish, Thomas Bedford, Danyon Inwood, Sam Gaze, Luke Weston & Simon Blanchard. The HC3 committee wish you all the very best of luck (no crashes) and hope you all ride well and show off the club colours in the process.. The 10 riders entered represent about 40% of the club’s junior riders which is a really good turnout.
Winter Race Series:
We have decided on a new course subject to the availability of toilet facilities. It will still be in the Horsham Downs area. The course will be the same as the Hamilton Open U17 & Fun ride The only difference will be the location of the start/finish line. What we can tell you is the Winter Race series will start Saturday the 24th April 2010. We will make an announcement soon, so watch this space for more details.
Well that’s my wrap up for another report
Paul Watene
